cooperation with the \u201csafer at home\u201d order issued for Davidson County, first from Nashville mayor John Cooper, and more recently from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, the Free Will Baptist National Office Building will remain closed through April, according to Executive Secretary Eddie Moody.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Lee issued Executive Order 22, on Monday, March 29. The two-week statewide mandate closes non-essential businesses and strongly urges Tennesseans to stay in their homes to combat the spread of the COVID-19. The order began at 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, and lasts through April 14. The order from Mayor Cooper extends restrictions even further, stretching through April 24.<\/p>\n<p>Free Will Baptist ministries will continue to operate with departmental employees working from home. The building also will receive packages and mail throughout the restricted period. Contact the office by phone at 877-767-7659.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important to work closely with government officials to guard the health and wellbeing of our community,\u201d Moody noted. \u201cBy following the guidelines issued, we hope to become part of the solution to COVID-19 rather than the problem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Please address questions or concerns for the Executive Office to: <a href=\"mailto:questions@nafwb.org\">questions@nafwb.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Executive Office Statement Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">March 12, 2020<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Antioch, TN\u2014With growing concerns regarding coronavirus (COVID-19), recently declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the Executive Office of the National Association of Free Will Baptists encourages all churches and members to take caution, use common sense, and take appropriate measures to help curtail the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We must treat this virus with the seriousness it deserves,&#8221; noted Executive Secretary Eddie Moody. &#8220;At the same time, we must not give in to panic and fear; instead, remember that our faith in Christ and the hope of the gospel give believers a firm foundation in times of personal and international crisis. The coronavirus, as terrible as it is, provides a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate faith, courage, and compassion to our communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Moody urges all Free Will Baptists to follow the simple recommendations issued by the Center for Disease Control:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wash hands often.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid close contact with others who are sick (especially in affected communities).<\/li>\n<li>Protect others by staying home if sick, covering coughing and sneezes, wearing a Facemask when sick, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently-touched surfaces.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions are at greatest risk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, churches and church members are urged to work closely with community leaders and government officials in local and regional efforts to contain hotspots and outbreak points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Each church must consider its own context and risk regarding services and gatherings,&#8221; Moody noted. &#8220;For instance: if the virus continues to spread in the U.S., churches in highly affected regions may discourage those at greatest risk to the virus from attending services and meetings until the threat passes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Although the 2020 National Convention is still four months away, the Executive Office will closely monitor this situation.
