Ministry Positions Available

Assist Pastor Terry in the routine duties of pastor for the church with the understanding that Pastor Terry will be stepping down after a year or two and the associate pastor will move into the position of senior pastor.

The churches of the Northwest Association have historically struggled to find pastors to shepherd our churches since we are so far removed from the core of our Free Will Baptist Churches. A number of churches have closed over the years because of the inability to secure a pastor and typically after a year or two of searching unsuccessfully the church would close. It is our desire to avoid such an outcome.

Pastor Terry has been the pastor of this church for 35 years and is looking to retire in the next few years. We believe beginning the search now with plans to transition the associate pastor to senior pastor is the proper approach for us.

Qualifications:

• A God-called man filled with the Holy Spirit is of primary importance.
• A mature individual evidenced by independent affirmations from peers/employers/family.
• Education appropriate for the position.
• A willingness to be a bi-vocational.
• Someone who can work in an environment where fellowship with other FWB churches, pastors, and attendance at denominational meetings, conferences, and events is difficult to achieve.
• Someone who can endure months of rain and little sunshine from November to April.

THE ROLE

Create environments, events and experiences that connect students to God, each other and the church family.

SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop a strong youth ministry program that supports the five pillars of Harmony: Discipleship, Evangelism, Community, Worship, and Corporate Prayer.

Build an effective leadership team by identifying and recruiting consistent, caring adult and student leaders.

Equip, train, encourage, and empower the leadership team for ministry.

Responsible for the midweek youth service and other youth minded discipleship/service opportunities.

Communicate well with parents and come alongside them to encourage and equip.

Plan and implement events and opportunities that promote community, service, worship, outreach, and a deeper walk such as: summer mission trip, camps/retreat, fellowship events, and community service.

Give general oversite and direction to the Children’s Director and Children’s program.

Direct the Upwards Sports outreach program.

Ability to participate in the worship team is a plus but not a requirement.

• Has a degree in youth ministry, Christian ministry, or similar degree
• Is knowledgeable in student ministries and loves teenagers
• Is awesome at communicating and relating to others
• Is skilled at recruiting, training, and leading adult and student leaders
• Is detail orientated with the capacity to see the big picture
• Is willing to take initiative and get things done
• Is a team player who collaborates with all ministries

Responsibilities
Direct weekly Wednesday evening youth program
Lead and teach Jr. High and High School classes
Organize and oversee youth events
Organize and oversee fundraisers for youth camp
Be available to preach occasional Sunday morning
Be active, attend, and support other ministries of the church
Serve on the church General Board
Other duties assigned by the Sr. Pastor

Required Qualifications
A calling from God to youth ministries
A servant’s heart
A desire for personal spiritual growth
2-4 years college course work in Biblical Studies
Experience working with youth
Ability to connect with youth

Preferred Qualifications
College Degree in Biblical Studies or Youth Ministry
FWB License or Ordination or ability to be within 1 year of hire date

A talent and knowledge of music, both vocal and instrumental

A committed Biblical marriage.

Spiritual leadership skills, including working with the pastor and congregation

A plan to move the church from traditional to blended worship.

Preaching skills are a plus.

This position is currently bivocational with plans to move towards full time as soon as possible.

Music

The oversight of all music ministries at Heritage Church.
Lead the music for Sunday morning services, Sunday evening as well as any other scheduled service.
Lead and plan (with the Lead Pastor) Christ-exalting music for worship services.
Encourage all generations in the church by recruiting, teaching, and training musicians/singers to serve the Lord in the areas where they are gifted.
Coordinate and direct rehearsals for the music ministries of the church.
Help lead and guide our church in a blended style of worship music that includes our Praise Team singers, other instrumentalists, and on special services our Choir.
Utilize a mix of hymns and contemporary music Most important aspect is that the words of the songs are theologically rich and God-exalting.
Manage upkeep and maintenance of all instruments and A/V equipment.
Media

Provide guidance for the media production of all our services.
Work with our church’s A/V team to ensure all sound, music slides, etc are prepared and provide clear communication to what is needed from them.
Oversee the church website.(can be discussed)
Provide oversight and scheduling for church social media.(can be discussed)

Qualifications

Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Him.
A clear call to vocational ministry.
Leads a life governed by the Bible and in accordance with the guidelines recorded in 1 Timothy 3:2-7.
Must be willing to be a part of the team approach to ministry, serving as part of the church staff.
Qualified to lead a gifted praise team, direct a choir and be able to contribute musically and vocally.

Personal Qualities

Spends time daily with the Lord in Bible study and prayer.
Maintains a high standard of personal purity.
If married, demonstrates an unwavering love for his wife in speech and actions. His wife should express support for his ministry and pursue personal spiritual growth.
Possesses a cooperative, flexible, and teachable spirit.
Must be a team player and willing to contribute to the overall mission of the church.
Upbeat personality, able to engage the congregation with calls to worship, and able to effectively administer and lead the music.

Other Responsibilities

Maintain clear communication with praise team members.
Attend staff meetings and participate in the planning and implementation of church ministry and programs aligned with the vision of the church.
Attend workshops, conferences, and other professional meetings as appropriate to one’s development in the music ministry.
Develop and manage the music ministry budget.
Meet with the pastor for accountability, and spiritual growth.
Maintain a balance of office hours for study and administration while recognizing ministry will take place outside of the church building.
Perform other duties as determined by the Lead Pastor.
